#1550- Standard Wet Fly Hook This is the traditional "wet fly" hook. Wet flies are honored, models, of successful subsurface times. (see 1530) These hooks feature a more gradual curve of the wire as it passes the rod at the lower right of the curve. This shape is associated with an early English hook-maker named Sproat and today is still considered a Sproat bend. Dedicated fly tyers regard this as the proper curvature to give wet steals their aesthetic beauty.
