They are a cost-effective solution for those patterns where a Slotted Bead is the preferred type.   A fraction the cost of today’s tungsten and about HALF the weight.  You can easily  upsize the bead by a size if you wish or add a bit of wire/weight behind the bead perhaps on the leader to sink a bit faster……or just add a bit of patience while you watch your fly sink a little bit slower?
